The History of RailAir
The profile of RailAir was raised again in August 2003 with the introduction of five new Scania Irizar coaches, with the latest environmentally friendly engines and full air-conditioning. These striking vehicles replace four of the tri-axle Volvos purchased in 1999.
These were joined by three more similar examples in April 2004, replacing all older coaches.
This modern fleet provides the best possible service and reduces the need to occasionally substitute a vehicle with one from another of our coach services.
2 April 2005 - The Terminal 4 shuttle bus stops. This is due to financial support from BAA ending. Passengers can use the free Heathrow Express train service that operates every 15 minutes between Terminal 1 and Terminal 4.
6th March 2007 – we celebrated the 40 anniversary of a direct coach service between Reading and Heathrow by giving passengers special RailAir Coach-shaped cakes and putting balloons and banners up at the Reading end of the route.
RailAir continues to be one of the best examples of bus/rail integration within the UK and the quality of the service is always top of our agenda.
40 years of service
